Call to Worship

Psalm 84:1-2, 4; 132:7

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord of hosts!

My soul longs, yes, faints for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Blessed are those who dwell in your house,

ever singing your praise!

Let us go to his dwelling place; let us worship at his footstool.

Prayer of Adoration and Invocation

O Lord, our eternal refuge, You have been our dwelling place in every generation. Before the mountains were formed, before You spoke the world into being, You were God—and You remain our home. In a world that shifts and fades, You are our constant shelter, our safe resting place, and our sure foundation. We adore You for Your nearness and Your majesty—high above all creation, yet intimately present with Your people. You gather us under Your care, like a shepherd with his flock, like a father welcoming his children. In You we find rest for our weary souls, strength for each day, and peace that surpasses understanding. Lord, You are not merely a place we visit, but the One in whom we live and move and have our being. When storms rise and uncertainties press in, You remain our hiding place. You are our refuge in trouble, our shade in the heat, our light in the darkness. We praise You that no matter where we go, we are never beyond Your presence or outside Your care. Holy Spirit come now be our worship leader so that all that is done here will bring glory to the one true God.

We pray in the name of Jesus who taught us to pray:

Our Father who art in Heaven,

hallowed be thy name,

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done,

on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation,

but deliver us from evil,

For thine is the Kingdom, and the power, and the Glory forever.  Amen

 Hymn No. 2                            O Worship the King

 Call to Confession                  Psalm 51: 3-4

For I know my transgressions, and my sin is ever before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you may be justified in your words and blameless in your judgment.”

Let us confess our sins

Prayer of Confession  (unison)

Almighty and most merciful Father; We have erred and strayed from Thy ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against Thy holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done. And we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But Thou, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare Thou those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore Thou those who are penitent; According to Thy promises declared unto mankind in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O merciful Father; for His sake; That we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life; To the glory of Thy holy name.

Private Confession

Assurance of Pardon:      Ephesians 2:13, 22

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ... In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.”

 Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel: in Jesus Christ we are forgiven!

People: Thanks be to God! Amen.

Affirmation of Faith

The Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father Almighty,

Maker of heaven and earth,

and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God,

begotten of the Father before all worlds;

God of God, Light of Light,

very God of very God;

begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father;

by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men for our salvation, came down from heaven,

and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary,

and was made man;

and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate;

he suffered and was buried;

and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures;

and ascended into heaven,

and sits on the right hand of the Father;

and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead;

whose kingdom shall have no end.

And I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Lord and Giver of Life;

who proceeds from the Father and the Son;

who with the Father and the Son together is worshipped and glorified;

who spoke by the prophets;

And I believe one holy catholic* and apostolic Church.

I acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins;

and I look for the resurrection of the dead,

and the life of the world to come. Amen.

*That is, the true Christian church of all times and all places.

The Communion Service

Institution        1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Examination    1 Corinthians 11:27-29

Invitation

All who trust in Jesus Christ for salvation, are baptized members in good standing of congregations that proclaim the gospel, are repentant of their sin and are at peace with their brothers and sisters in Christ are invited to partake of the Lord’s Supper, feeding on the grace of God by faith.  If you have not put your trust in Christ, please allow the elements to pass you by and take this opportunity to meditate on the meaning of the Gospel.

It is our belief that Jesus instituted the Lord's Supper using the elements of unleavened bread and wine. Therefore, following his example, the bread offered is unleavened and wine is offered in the outer ring of the tray. If, however, for reasons of conscience, you are not able to participate using wine, grape juice is provided in the center of the tray.

(A Word to Parents:  Baptized children are invited to the table after they have made a profession of faith and have been received as communing members by the church to which their parents belong.)

Hymn #347                 The Church’s One Foundation

Benediction                 Ephesians 3:14-21

For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
